NARC activities

Bi-weekly NARC "Coffee Call" breakfast. 9:00 A.M., at Eat' N' Park Restaurant, 1617 N. Atherton St., State College (Near Wal-Mart). Open to all members and any interested guests. Talk-in on 146.85 MHz..

During the winter months, we have a "Tweener Breakfast" during the off week, also at Eat N" Park.

During the warm months, we have "Mountaintop Activity Day" alternating with the Coffee call. During Spring and fall, we have informal Activity days, weather pending - listen to the repeater or give a call to find out if we're heading up.

NARC regular monthly meetings.

Our meetings are to all members and any interested guests.. We also hold Amateur Radio Testing prior to the meetings. For more info, drill down the link on this page.

Meeting Time 7:00 P.M.

Members arriving early should convene in the cafeteria across the hall from the meeting room, to avoid disturbing license examinees.

March: Spring Banquet is held in place of th eregular March meeting. This year's banquet will held Friday, March 25th, 2011

June: Field Day planning meeting.

July: Annual "Fox Hunt" meeting, at Orchard Park in State College Borough.

August: 6th Super Summer Picnic will be held at the Lions Club Picnic Facility in

Pine Grove Mills, PA

The Super Picnic is a new event, and is still in the planning stages, so remember to check back as plans progress! Come out and meets Hams from around the Region.

November This is when the NARC holds it's "Crazy Two-meter Antenna Contest." This event is hosted by Woody Brem and Jim Breakall.

Crazy Antenna Contest Rules:

1. Antenna must fit into meeting room.

2. SWR must be 2:1 or better as measured at meeting.

3. You have to make a contact through the 85 repeater at the meeting using a club provided transmitter.

4. Your Feed line must be 10 feet or less in length with a PL259 or BNC connector.

5. No resistor based matchnig - this means you can not achieve VSWR by placing a resistor across the coax.

Winner will be selected by vote of members present.

December: We hold our Annual Holiday Banquet. The location for 2011 is the

Ramada Inn

The BOD meeting is open to all club members who wish to attend.
